It is clear that in recent days the international class struggle has taken a leap with the incorporation of massive mobilizations and clashes between the peoples and the governments of the world. With differences but also with strong points in common, the actions of the masses, conflicts and political crises are presented in different parts of the globe exposing the arrival of a new political moment. With no intention to rush into conclusions, we want to leave a brief chronicle of events and the participation of our International Socialist League in most of them.
Catalonia stands up for its self-determination and the freedom of political prisoners
Our comrades of SOL contributed valuable articles about the events that mark the resurgence of the Catalan independence movement and actively participated in these day´s mobilizations. The international solidarity of the ISL was also noted with actions, such as that carried out by the MST in front of the Spanish embassy in Buenos Aires.
Ecuador defeats the austerity of Lenin Moreno and the IMF
The people of Ecuador rose against the decree of austerity of the government and the IMF and, after 13 days of struggle, managed to defeat it. The dialogue accepted by the CONAIE leadership, however, has broken down and the last word has not yet been said. Throughout the process, the ISL, through supporters in the country, carried out an outstanding monitoring and solidarity actions in different countries.
Chile revolts and defeats the transport hikes
After two days of intense mobilization, the Chilean people, led by the youth, defeated the government´s attempts to increase the subway by the government with mobilizations in the streets. It is a true popular rebellion that faced off against the state of emergency and curfew and had the capital and several regions under its control for hours. While the government backed down with the increases, the process is just beginning. Our comrades of Movimiento Anticapitalista actively participate and the ISL developed an international campaign of declarations and actions in different countries within a few hours.
The struggle of the Kurdish people does not stop
The Turkish invasion of Kurdistan sought to crush a process of struggle of the Kurdish people that does not stop despite its leadership and difficulties. From the ISL we also provide all our support and solidarity and, in the aggressor state itself, the voice of the SEP was raised to sustain a principled policy of solidarity with the Kurdish people while maintaining a critical position in relation to the leadership of that process.
Hong Kong, Haiti, Iraq, Lebanon, Peru, Brazil and many other places in the world are undergoing violent mobilizations and clashes. The International Socialist League is strengthened in each one of those fights, confronting the leaderships that betray and cave in, and proposing itself as a space of organization and committed struggle for all those who mobilize to turn everything around in the world. We are proud of this!
