The news yesterday about the murder of Marielle Franco and Anderson regarding President Jair Bolsonaro’s alleged involvement fill us with outrage.
It is not new Bolsonaro’s contempt for the working class, its achievements and rights, for the women, diversity, blackness, youth and poor people. But for the first time, his link with the murder is pointed out.
The Brazilian court is responsible for the non-continuity and slow investigations on who ordered the death of Marielle Franco. It is not possible that, a year and seven months later, we learn from a television program that the driver of the car from which the shots were fired at Marielle, Élcio Queiroz, was allowed to enter by “Mr. Jair” to go to the house 58 at the Condominium Villas Bar minutes before the crime was committed by Élcio and Ronie Lessa!
There is an urgent need to establish an investigative committee independent of the political and judicial power to know and reveal the truth. Only an independent commission backed by popular mobilization will be able to seek the truth and demand punishment for the intellectuals responsible for the murder of a feminist, black, LGBTI and socialist left fighter. We call on all social, political and trade union organizations to mobilize across the country and demand on the streets to know who ordered to kill Marielle!
