After leaving San José, Costa Rica in the early hours of the morning and traveling the more than 300 kilometers that separate it from the town of Peñas Blancas on the border with Nicaragua, the International Commission for the Freedom of Political Prisoners is in this site.
The support gathered throughout the journey and the political weight that the initiative gained is palpable in the displays of affection and adherence from different sectors, in the extensive media coverage as well as in the violent reception by the Ortega-Murillo regime that has militarized the border, placing more than 400 soldiers, snipers and announcing that they are not responsible for the physical integrity of the comrades of the Commission were they to try to advance one step beyond the customs control of Costa Rica.
The realization of the internationalist initiative constitutes in itself a success and a demonstration in the eyes of the world of the dictatorial and repressive character of the regime and is the starting point for new initiatives for the life and freedom of the prisoners and the conquest of a free and democratic Nicaragua.
That is our commitment from the International Socialist League.
