The third anniversary of the rebellion that broke out on October 18, 2019 is being commemorated. Boric, like the right, occupied the Plaza de la Dignidad with pacos and invoked criminalizing rhetoric to stop the popular mobilization. Despite the repression, the mobilization managed to show itself in Santiago and various cities across the country.

Gabriel Boric implemented all the forces to avoid a new photograph of a Plaza Dignidad surrounded by the creative expression of social mobilization, the mandate of the government of the Broad Front and the Communist Party together with the former – Concertación is clear: a return to the normalization of capitalism -neoliberal at the point of repression to unload the crisis on the social majorities, that is, stabilization based on the accumulation of 1%.
In this line, Boric deployed 25,000 carabineros, set up police controls outside schools and called for the occupation of Plaza Dignidad in Santiago throughout the day, so the repressive logic of the right wing generated confrontations over the course of hours against those who approached to commemorate the iconic square on October 18. Only after social resistance was it possible to enter Dignidad for a couple of hours before a new attack by the special forces of the self-proclaimed progressive government. This situation was similar in the outskirts of Santiago and in various cities.
Boric’s own words in relation to October 18 exemplify his action: “The social uprising was a fertile field for the expansion of destructive violent behavior, which has also left victims and sequels, and from all political positions we have to say it clearly… that violence turned against the very causes of the uprising by producing a growing wave of rejection in society.”
Three years after the rebellion we are going through an acute economic crisis that burdens the social majorities, the political prisoners continue behind bars, the human rights violators continue to repress with total impunity, the Wallmapu is militarized and progress is being made in new colonial treaties at the service of the transnationals such as the TPP-11. All this as a state policy of the Broad Front and the Communist Party that revive the former Concertación that governs together with them, while in the midst of social polarization the right wing is emboldened by the space that Boric provides it.
Three years after the rebellion, it is essential to resume the best of the social and political experience of the revolutionary October to promote the mobilization, in turn, the reorganization of the anti-capitalist left and the social movements, promoting coordination and proposing the construction of a unitary alternative to raise the program of the revolt against the government of Boric and the right.
