Brazil: Unacceptable! The majority of PSOL parlamentarians decided to join the parliamentary bloc of Lula-Alckmin

By Central Committee of Socialist Revolution – PSOL.

The majority of the PSOL’s parliamentarians in the House of Representatives decided to become part of the government bloc, making official the appointment of representative Pastor Henrique Vieira (RJ) as deputy leader of the government in the House. The decision was not unanimous and we commend representatives Luiza Erundina, Sâmia Bomfim and Fernanda Melchionna and representative Glauber Braga who defended the political independence of the Socialism and Liberty Party. The decision to join the ruling base is not only wrong, but also unacceptable for all those who defend a party intransigent in the defense of the rights of the poor, of the peripheral, of the working class. And that is why the PSOL cannot be linked to any capitalist government, whatever political color it may be, all of them govern for the ruling class and do not hesitate to reduce the labor and social rights of the majority of the population to guarantee the profit and wealth of the rich and powerful.

For some time now, the orientations of the PSOL have been defined by a political leadership that intends to “re-found” the party, to wipe out its class-conscious, politically independent and socialist character. This refoundation is nothing other than the abandonment of the anti-capitalist and independent project that has guided the PSOL since its foundation. When the radicals of the PT promoted the rupture with the form of government of the PT, the policy of class conciliation, the betrayal and abandonment of the class project of the majority PT and Lulista leadership.

The heirs of this failed policy of Lulo-Petism, in the PSOL, are represented by the tendencies Socialist Spring, Solidarity Revolution (Boulos’ tendency) and Campo Semente, where the tendencies Resistance, Insurgency and Subvert are grouped (tendencies that are internationally referenced to the Unified Secretariat -SU), and are provoking a real liquidation of the PSOL and with that, distancing it from the struggle that the oppressed and exploited in Brazil give daily.

We of Socialist Revolution, internal tendency of the PSOL, declare our total rejection of this decision and call on the militancy of the radical left, which does not renounce the struggle for socialism and freedom, to join forces. Our challenge in the coming months will be the dispute for a class, independent and anti-capitalist policy for the PSOL, a decisive debate for the next Congress of the party, where the survival of the PSOL as a left and socialist party will be at stake.

On the road to strengthening the socialist left of the PSOL, we call on all those who share the same politics and the same ideas, to strengthen a socialist, revolutionary and internationalist tool, capable of facing the challenges ahead. Only with a strong organization, with a courageous and prepared militancy for the political onslaughts with the reformist currents and the left of the order, solid in the principles that the struggle of the working class and the poor has taught us, will we be able to emerge strengthened from this process. We need to build this organization to dispute the leadership of the PSOL and prevent its liquidation. That is what Socialist Revolution is fighting for. Join us, let us advance together in this battle.
