Iran: Students mobilize against government chemical attack

Here is the statement published on the Telegram network by an active Iranian student organization, which reached us through the French comrades of the NPA (L’étincelle).

Statement of the Revolutionary Organization of Students – Tehran

Let’s answer with nationwide protests and strikes to the chemical attack and the serial and intentional poisoning of students.

In addition to our condolences to the family and relatives of Fatemeh Rezaei, and our sympathy to the injured students and their families, in our opinion and that of a large part of the society, this recent terrorist crime of the Islamic Republic in universities and schools in Qom, Tehran and several other cities which are mostly girls’ schools, has no other motive than to sow fear among the revolutionaries and especially among female students who have been among the main drivers of the women’s revolution for life and freedom. The aim of this attack is to avenge, contain and stop the militant movement of the students, who are mostly women and is in fact led by brave young women revolutionaries.

These terrorist acts and chemical attacks against schools and dormitories are a reactionary revenge against the revolutionary students and the student movement to control and contain them. These movements have played an important role in the resistance and struggle against the terrorist regime of the Islamic Republic during the current revolution.

We, the students of the Revolutionary Students Organization, state:

This planned crime must be stopped immediately and all persons and organizations involved in it must be presented to society and inscribed in the list of names of all perpetrators of crimes to be prosecuted.

Until we reach a safe environment in schools, we, the students, will continue our protest instead of going to school with our families. We call on teachers to stand with us on a nationwide strike. We, the students, consider the national call for teachers on Tuesday, March 16 as a positive step in this direction.

We want the student movement to stand with us, our students and our families, and protest and strike in our universities against this crime of chemical attack and serial and deliberate poisoning of our students.

We, the different parts of the country under oppression and deprivation, stood together during the last five months of the women’s revolution for life and freedom, and we have approached step by step the overthrow of the Islamic Republic with a coordinated action, of organized and national struggle. In these difficult circumstances, we need to stand together and we want the different components of society to support us.

We are on the eve of International Women’s Day and we state once again that the root of insecurity and current problems in our society is the anti-human, child-killing and anti-women government of the Islamic Republic, and by advancing in our revolution and organizing nationwide demonstrations and strikes, we must solve this problem once and for all, which can be solved by overthrowing the Islamic Republic. We want to be connected nationwide on Tuesday, March 7, in tune with the teachers, and on Wednesday, March 8, International Women’s Day, with a big call by 52 organizations to organize demonstrations starting at 6 p.m. in the streets and main squares of the cities. The crime is the chemical attack of the Islamic government against the students and once again we declare that the child murderer government must be destroyed.
