Australia: Campaign in support of students for Palestine

Since September 11, there has been a policy of persecution, arrests and legal proceedings against pro-Palestine activists in Melbourne.

During a demonstration against the main military manufacturing corporations, including the Israeli Raphael and Elbit Systems, arrests were made and a persecution of more than 100 activists began, accusing them of having participated in the demonstration.

Not only were there arrests on the spot, but there were arrests at home, with completely violent and excessive operations, searches without court orders, “wanted” lists, all to try to intimidate those who raise their voice against the genocide carried out by the State of Israel against the Palestinian people.

In November, the first judicial hearing was held, and as has been happening in different countries around the world, there is a clear policy to advance criminalization, restricting the right to freedom of expression and social protest, especially against those who defend the Palestinian cause.

This is why the greatest international solidarity is needed, and we at the ISL share and promote the signatures that our comrades from Socialist Alternative are collecting to demand that the charges against the protesters be dropped and that the right to demonstrate be defended.

We call on all parliamentarians who defend democratic freedoms to add their support to this campaign.
