October 26 elections resulted in the victory of the government in most of the provinces, including Buenos Aires, where Frente de Izquierda Unidad (Left Front-Unity) came in third.
At the bunker FIT-U celebrated winning three seats (two in the Province of Buenos Aires and one in the City of Buenos Aires). Ana Paredes Landman and Cele Fierro will be part of the seat rotation for MST, together with Nicolás Del Caño in the province and Myriam Bregman in the city.
The results showed the lowest turnout in national legislative elections since 1983. The elected national deputy Ana Paredes Landman, stated: “It is evident that the combination of a government that came to crush basic rights and Peronism not creating any expectations means that there is no popular enthusiasm for the election”.
Elected national deputy Cele Fierro summarized: “If Peronism, which is presumed to be the main opposition, is calling Milei to ‘dialogue’ through Kicillof, along with the CGT boycotting the working class, they make it easier for this chainsaw government to have it their way. They are the most functional for the libertarian government”.
To finish, Ana Paredes Landman valued the seats won and pointed out: “Those seats are points of support to continue leveraging the struggles of workers, youth, the women’s movement and poorer sectors. Now we have the responsibility to build protagonism in the political process, in the struggle in the streets and in the perspective of setting up an alternative that gets ready to be the true opposition to the far-right and builds the road towards an anti-capitalist and socialist solution and a workers’ government”.
