Left Front Unity chose the entry of the U.S. Embassy to close its electoral campaign, a choice charged with political symbolism. At 5:30 p.m., militants and referents of the Front gathered to repudiate what they described as “the colony pact” between the government of Javier Milei and Washington, denouncing the loss of national sovereignty and the austerity dictated by the International Monetary Fund.

During the event, the main speakers accused President Milei of acting as an “employee of the empire”, stating that “he’s giving away the shirt off our back in exchange for nothing“. They also pointed out that the current economic policy “deepens poverty, destroys jobs and brings the country to its knees in front of foreign interests”.

With banners, chants and a strong youth presence, the mobilization sought to express the left’s rejection of the country’s economic and political dependence. “Faced with those who govern for financial capital, we raise an alternative of the workers and the people,” said the organizers.

Among the speakers were Cele Fierro, Myriam Bregman, Ana Paredes Landman, Nicolás del Caño, Romina del Pla, J.C. Giordano, Gabriel Solano and other candidates of the Left Front. Alejandro Bodart, Vilma Ripoll, Ingrid Urrutia and other referents of this space were also present.

Cele Fierro, MST referent and candidate for Congress member for the City of Buenos Aires, said: “Milei government can no longer be tolerated and the economic and social situation is getting worse and worse. Now everything is decided from the US and this doormat government obeys without solving any crisis, we are going to have more problems and foreign indebtedness that they will want the people to pay again. That is why on Sunday we must vote against Milei, but without supporting other parties that have already governed, failed or in Parliament are accomplices of austerity and the government“.

Ana Paredes Landman, Buenos Aires Congresswoman and candidate for the province of Buenos Aires, said: “The most useful thing for those who feel the need to put a limit to Milei is to look at what happened during these two years. He did not have a majority but, nevertheless, he got a lot of what he wanted. That is because not only the Radicals but also Peronism let that happen. Decree 70/23 still in force, which makes everything worse, the veto to pensioners, and more. Why don’t we kick out Espert? because Peronism doesn’t want to. Why don’t we move forward as Garrahan says with impeachment? And why would they do it in October 27? We haven’t heard anything from the CGT except a campaing advertisement saying that they mobilize in the streets against Milei and the only thig you can seee on that video are the flags of the left front”.

The Left Front Unity thus closed a campaign focused on denouncing the consequences of austerity and on marking a frontal opposition to the economic course of the Government. In front of the US embassy, the left wanted to make its message clear: “Sovereignty and independence are not negotiable”.
