Enough of political-judicial repression against the SUNTRACS comrades, all our solidarity to those who fight for a country at the service of the workers, workers and people subjected to misery by the ultra-right regime of Mulino.
As supporters of the International Socialist League, we raise our voice of indignation at the repression unleashed by the dictatorial regime of Mulino against the leadership, their families and the workers organized in SUNTRACS. The arbitrary detention of comrades, the criminalization of protest and the political-judicial persecution constitute a direct attack on the democratic freedoms won by the Panamanian people through years of struggle. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested, the cessation of repression and respect for the right to workers’ organization and mobilization.
The regime, faithful servant of business interests and international finance capital, seeks to break the strength of the combative organizations in order to impose its economic adjustment plan, aimed at unloading on the backs of the working people the cost of the crisis. This repressive offensive is not an isolated event, but part of a conscious strategy of social disciplining at the service of the bankers, the big businessmen and the creditors of the foreign debt. Today it is SUNTRACS, tomorrow it will be the rest of us, if we do not regroup and propose a new plan of struggle that includes the old and new slogans of the movement and the necessary defense mechanisms in the face of the regime’s onslaught and judicial persecution.

It is urgent to regroup all the social, trade union, student and popular forces ready to confront the advance of the regime. Denouncing is not enough: it is necessary to move on to unified action, building a coordination of struggle that articulates the workers and popular resistance, with class independence and without confidence in the institutions of the regime. Only organized and sustained mobilization can stop the repressive course and defeat the austerity measures.
We call on all democratic and human rights organizations, both national and international, to speak out immediately against the criminalization of the workers’ struggle in Panama. We denounce before the world the systematic violation of constitutional, legal and due process guarantees, perpetrated by a judicial apparatus subordinated to political and business power.
From a class-conscious and internationalist perspective, we reaffirm our unconditional solidarity with SUNTRACS, its leaders, militants and family members. The struggle of the Panamanian workers is part of the struggle of the Latin American working class against authoritarian governments, finance capital and the austerity policies imposed by imperialist agencies. Only the working people, organized and conscious of their strength, will be able to open the road to a truly socialist and democratic solution to the regime of capital.
