International Call to Regroup More Anti-Capitalist, Socialist, and Revolutionary Forces
Given that we are currently experiencing a global stage where inter-imperialist war, an intractable economic crisis, socio-environmental catastrophe, and the far right pose serious threats to the working masses and their allies worldwide;
Given that, more than ever, capital’s international offensive, as a war plan against the world’s masses, manifests itself as a planetary orientation of the bourgeoisie in crisis, and that, beyond the uneven pace in each region or country, the ultra-reactionary escalation of the class minority is global;
Given that, faced with this historical crossroads, with enormous social and political polarization defining the global situation, and with the far right at one extreme representing the front line of capital against the working class, youth, and the peoples; But on the other hand, there is a courageous mass resistance manifested in enormous actions such as the movement in support of the heroic Palestinian cause, strikes, and rebellions in various parts of the world, albeit without revolutionary political leadership at the forefront;
Therefore, given the crisis of reformist apparatuses within the workers’ and mass movements—due to their insistence on solutions within the framework of a capitalism that offers no room for concessions, and their increasingly rightward shift in the face of repeated failures—great opportunities are opening up for the revolutionary left, and our ISL in particular;
And considering that, given this general situation, we need programmatic, political, orientation, and organizational responses commensurate with the circumstances,
This Third World Congress of the International Socialist League resolves to:
- Issue an international call to regroup militant forces in a new revolutionary international project, based on the fact that the ISL represents a dynamic confluence in the process of growing, and this Third Congress in particular is proof that we continue to take steps along that path with new members, based first and foremost on an initial approach stemming from important agreements on the main events of the global class struggle (Ukraine, Palestine, China and Russia as new imperialisms, etc.), more than on historical assessments or debates of the past. We advocate this method to achieve a positive convergence of currents with different origins that bet on building a new revolutionary tradition together;
- Direct this call for unity toward national organizations, parties, or groups that identify as anti-capitalist, socialist, and revolutionary, particularly at international forces within the Trotskyist camp open to this debate on an international regroupment. We propose to move forward with all those willing to converge based on present agreement on the main processes of the class struggle, a program for revolutionary action and the transition to socialism, and, fundamentally, on a healthy democratic centralism. This centralism should prioritize centralized political intervention with militant campaigns and the building of revolutionary parties in each country, while giving strong weight to the democratic pole, collective debate, tolerance for differences and nuances, and respect for national organizations, their rhythms, dynamics, and leadership.
- Once again, we state that the International Socialist League (ISL) is proof that this is possible on an international scale, and that national experiences like that of the FIT-Unity in Argentina, despite public debates and controversies, demonstrate a positive electoral unity of revolutionary forces, which we bet can advance towards a unified party of tendencies, as proposed by our section in that country, the MST.
- Extend this invitation to prominent figures, leaders, and activists from the labor, student, socio-environmental, women’s and LGBTQ+ movements, human and democratic rights organizations, critical intellectuals, and the cultural sector.
- Therefore, call on all organizations, groups, collectives, prominent figures, and activists willing to explore this perspective to open this debate.
- Produce a public Manifesto to popularize this call and serve as the central instrument of an offensive public campaign by the International Socialist League worldwide.
Adopted by the III World Congress of the ISL
