The Zionist state’s genocide against the Palestine people has reached new heights of depravity and inhumanity. Israel’s near-total siege on Gaza and strangulation of supplies has starved to death at least 147 people, including 85 children to date.
The U.N. estimates 100,000 Palestinian women and children face severe malnutrition, while a third of the population of 2.1 million, more than 600,000 people, haven’t eaten in days. Hospitals do not have supplies to treat the sick and wounded. The head of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) has called the situation “deliberate mass starvation.” An IDF whistleblower reports that the Israeli military has buried 1000 trucks full of food and medical supplies.
The Zionist entity also shut down over 400 international aid distribution points that were feeding up to 2 million Palestinians daily, replacing them with four aid distribution sites now administered by a shady Israel-backed US contractor called the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). These GHF “aid distribution hubs” have been operating as part of a calculated effort to reduce access to food aid to induce famine and mass starvation. Furthermore, these hubs were deliberately set up inside Israeli military-designated “red zones”—better understood as free-fire, kill zones.
Starving and desperate people are forced to run through a killing field and avoid machine gun fire in a death lottery to see who gets a meal for the day. This barbaric and twisted real-life “Squid Game” has led to more than one thousand Gazans being deliberately slaughtered, and thousands more wounded by Zionist forces and US military contractors sniping men, women, and children in what has now become daily massacres. The GHF is run by former Trump campaign adviser and ally Johnnie Moore, a far-right evangelical Christian Zionist and board member of the far-right, pro-Zionist Anti-Defamation League. According to an investigation by the Middle East Monitor:
Moore, president of the Congress of Christian Leaders, has longstanding ties to US and Israeli far-right figures, having served twice under President Trump and helped coordinate the evangelical alliance with Netanyahu. He is also a vocal supporter of Trump’s proposed plan for the US to assume control over Gaza, an agenda that amounts to ethnic cleansing and colonial occupation.
Palestinian Genocide as a Function of Colonialism and Imperialism
The forced, mass starvation of the people of Gaza is the latest tactic of an ongoing strategy by the Zionists to perpetuate a genocide against the Palestinian people, which is the direct result of Israeli settler-colonialism in service to, and in alignment with, the aims of US imperialism and its European counterparts.
Israel seeks to expand its colonial capitalist ethnostate through the elimination of the Indigenous Palestinian people, the weakening and subjugation of the Arab states and Iran, and the perpetual theft and colonization of land through war as part of a relentless and perpetual expansion of a “Greater Israel” rooted in racial and religious supremacy.
In turn, the US and its European imperialist allies arm, politically empower, and work through the Israel military apparatus to defeat and subdue all forms of opposition in the region to their project of expanding capitalist control over the vast oil and gas reserves and other natural resources. Furthermore, support for colonial expansion of the Israeli regime and its actions serve as an integral component of US imperial strategy in the region to serve greater imperialist goals.
The deployment of Israeli military force against oppositional and non-compliant states, movements, and populations has worked in conjunction with the placement and buildup of US troops and military bases across the region in recent years. These complementary components of imperial military strategy work to keep out or contain imperial rivals like China and Russia, to install compliant regimes and topple oppositional ones, to repress popular uprisings and movements of resistance where and when they emerge, to impose profitable economic arrangements for US and international capitalists and corporations, and to ensure US dominance and hegemony into the foreseeable future.
Since the invention of Israel in 1948 by US and European imperialist powers, the Zionist colonial entity has been able to survive and expand only with the backing of imperialist powers operating through Israeli Zionism for their own purposes. Likewise, US and European imperialism have built up the Israeli settler-colonial military regime over several decades to become the most deadly, violent, and genocidal force in the world; and see it as an indispensable component of how they exercise their power and influence throughout the region.
For Palestinian Liberation, Imperialism and Zionism Must be Defeated
There is only one solution for the liberation of Palestine from Zionist occupation, that is the defeat of Zionism and its imperial backers. We must support and encourage all forms of resistance to the Zionist project that weaken its capacities to continue the genocide and to wage attacks across the region. This starts with supporting the right for people under Zionist occupation or under attack to resist militarily by any means possible. It includes escalating and globalizing campaigns of solidarity that include mass demonstration, strikes, direct action, occupations, disruption of arms production and distribution to the Israeli war machine, and all other forms of pressure-building action. It also includes building the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement against capitalist enterprises and other institutions that profit from Zionism and genocide, and through building solidarity with dissidents who are being arrested, deported, and repressed for their opposition to Israel, Zionism, genocide, and war.
Internationally, we must give our full support to the Arab working classes of the region, the only forces capable of directly defeating the Zionist project and its imperialist handlers. Only through the revolutionary liberation of all the working classes of the Middle East region can the yoke of Israeli domination over their Palestinian brothers and sisters also be lifted. The heroic and inspiring resistance and resilience of the Palestinian people to the Zionist entity and the US/European imperialism is a central component of this process. Supporting the right to resist and revolt, building the solidarity struggle throughout the centers of world imperialism responsible for enabling Zionism and the oppression of people across the Middle East, and aligning with the fight for a single, secular, democratic, and socialist Palestine are the responsibility of revolutionaries everywhere.
