The purpose of this letter is to open an exchange with you about everything that is happening in the country and about the possibilities, which, consequently, are opening up for the anti-capitalist and socialist left and for our Frente de Izquierda Unidad.

On the one hand, it is evident that in recent times and after having succeeded in voting its reactionary labor reform bill, Milei’s government has been running into a series of economic, political and social problems, which are seriously affecting it. The constant inflation, the fall in production and consumption and falling wages and rising precariousness of millions of people are generating a sharp rise in social unrest and discontent and a considerable drop in the levels of support for the government. This is getting even worse in view of the evident corruption scandals, with the Adorni case as the most emblematic example of the ruling caste, which is also affected by the president’s involvement in the $LIBRA case. The combination of these issues also brings a leap in the actions of struggle and confrontation with the government, especially in many provinces of the interior of the country. Something that in the following months could be reflected even more in Greater Buenos Aires, which would imply a qualitative leap in the levels of confrontation with the government and in its weakening.

At the same time, if something has not changed, it is the complicit and passive action of the bureaucratic trade union leaderships, which has allowed the government to advance with its plan of adjustment and structural reforms. Not even now that it is more weakened have they decided to call for actions to defeat Milei’s far-right project. Maintaining the path of negotiations and some limited judicial initiatives. All the more reason to continue promoting and coordinating from below the struggles underway and those to come.

Meanwhile, at the political level, Peronism in the Congress has repeatedly collaborated with some senators or deputies who respond to their governors giving the government quorum or directly voting for its laws. But now it takes note of Milei’s weakening and the main figures of its central structure are on a national tour, seeking to relaunch the PJ as a credible option in 2027, behind agreements of different factions and a moderate and conservative project to support it. This implies that even its most critical wings, such as Grabois, only consider running in a Primary, but always accepting the final unity with the hierarchical structure of the PJ and its designs and candidates.

In the face of all this, and in the midst of a country that reflects a strong social and political polarization, we do not consider it a coincidence that the left and our Left Front in particular appear on the rise and more visible as an option before public opinion in all the polls that have been carried out. Reflecting a sample of the existing crisis and polarization and how positive it is that there is a front located to the left of all other forces of the regime and the capitalist system. In the works of different consulting firms and in the analysis of many media and journalists of different political extractions, it is recognized that the left is a growing political actor. For example, recently the Frente de Izquierda was placed with 9% in a national survey. And comrade Myriam Bregman is the one who most capitalizes on this progress with good rates of electoral support and positive image, which are expressed in various surveys and opinion polls. This is a political achievement that our whole front has to understand and analyze and try to develop common policies and initiatives so that our force of left unity as a whole develops and advances much more, together with the growth of its figures and main referents. We believe that this is now possible. Because measurements that place us around 10% are an expression of a change, of a search by millions that could develop even further if we act decisively and in unity. That is why it is necessary to discuss in depth the whole situation and what to do moving forward.

In this sense, as Myriam is the one who appears better positioned, it is logical that we start from that fact of reality. In our case, we recognize that advance and we want to collaborate in promoting it, that is why we make ourselves available to exchange ideas on how to strengthen that process and also the advance of the anti-capitalist and socialist left in general. And in your case, we consider that this places you before the responsibility of thinking and proposing initiatives to the FIT-U as a whole, since we all have to be aware that, together with the leap in the political influence of an outstanding figure of the left, it is necessary to encourage the political organization of thousands and their insertion in every sphere of workers’, popular and youth struggle, if we want to advance qualitatively towards the fundamental changes that define our socialist strategy.

Faced with this open situation that poses new challenges, it is of public knowledge that we had some differences in relation to two recent political events, the past March 24 and this May Day. In our opinion, you have responded incorrectly, unnecessarily dividing in both, when it was more necessary to unify and for our front to appear stronger and putting itself forward politically. But we do not intend to reopen here this assessment, on which we each have our own opinions. We want to base this discussion on oue agreements, which we also have, such as the support to the Global Sumud Flotilla, where our comrade Cele Fierro is sailing again, together with doctors and representatives of the fother FIT-U forces. And also to make an effort to start discussing the agreements we may find moving forward, which is the essential effort of the moment, given the responsibility that we have to assume towards the social and electoral base of the Left Front and many thousands of others that listen to us, follow us and expect us to be up to the challenges that are being posed.

For all these reasons, we believe that it would be very positive for Myriam Bregman to hspearead proposals and calls to promote our front as a whole and far beyond a mere electoral agreement, which we all know is very limited. You know that the MST has been proposing to transform the FIT-U into a great unified party of the left, with the liberty to form internal tendencies so that each can maintain their identity and positions, open to the incorporation of intellectuals, social and anti-bureaucratic leaders. And open to all individuals who, on the basis of a deep programmatic agreement, want to in some way be part of a common organization that has a national coordination, permanent functioning, search for agreements on all political issues and struggles, and free debate of ideas and proposals. Attempting to channel into political and militant organization within the FIT-U a significant part of the support that already exists outside our front. And at the same time bringing together thousands of people who are disappointed with Peronism and are looking for a new alternative.

Of course, we do not intend to advance and debate only around our proposal, we offer it as a contribution to a collective exchange. At the same time, we are open to consider other ideas and proposals, to discuss different possible variants that may enable a political advance, and to reach better syntheses. What we are convinced of is that, in view of the political position that we are reaching, we cannot continue doing the same as before, nor can we remain limited to an electoral agreement. That is where you have the greatest responsibility in making proposals that attempt a qualitative and collective leap. For example, regarding the steps that could be taken, you have raised the necessity of building a Workers Party, something that in itself could be positive. If there is not agreement on our proposal, we have no problem in exploring this variant, because something must be done to improve our front. But you have not yet proposed what steps to take toward this objective, what common actions to attempt to build, what the FIT-U as a whole and others who want to join do to try to achieve it. So far, your proposal is general and lacks concrete proposals toward its possible materialization. Therefore, we also ask you to develop it and bring it down to earth, if you want it to be a collective task that we all evaluate in depth and promote, given prior agreement. So that we all work together avoid our front being reduced to electoral possibilities, and instead become a factor of organization of thousands of militants, behind a common strategy.

We consider advancing in debating different possibilities and common proposals decisive to overcoming the the current situation that limits the potential of our front. Because we understand that you want to advance in development of the PTS, just as we will continue to advance the development of the MST, but we also believe that the political opportunity that we have ahead of us on the left cannot be reduced to a punctual leap in the growth of a single organization. Because there will only be a change of magnitude, positive and qualitative, if we have a common strategy that enhances a joint advance in all areas of political and social struggle as well as in its electoral expression. Hence we also want to discuss with you how you see the development of the revolutionary process in Argentina, because we cannot rule out the possibility of major political and social crises and sharp turns of the situation that may place us before great opportunities in the current perspective. Our vision is that, in those moments, beyond nuances or some differences we have, unity and driving common strategies will be very necessary. What is your vision? Do you also see the need to explore that unity? Or do you consider that one organization can respond to such a challenge on its own? We really believe it is very important to discuss all of this.

The fact that the left appears better positioned and with higher possibilities in the national political scenario means that we are not talking about minor issues or about electing a few more parlamentarians or winning the leadership of a trade union or two, or some specific advance in another popular or youth sector. We are talking about the opportunity of a significant leap, attracting several million workers and young people, significantly multiplying our political and social influence. We are talking about the real possibility of layers of the population begining to see us, for the first time, as a real political option that competes on an equal footing with all the parties of the regime. Facing this, in our opinion, we have to take advantage of the position seen in polls and also evidenced in places of work, study and popular neighborhoods to communicate, together and strongly, our intention and objective of wanting to fight for political power of the country, so that the workers govern, encouraging that possibility and summoning millions of workers, youth and middle sectors punished by the crisis to support and to join us. Of course, always supported by mobilization and promoting the development of democratic organizations of the workers and the people. On this issue, as more people are looking at the left and talking about its possibilities, we disagree with the way you have referenced this issue, because you center on the idea that what prevails are the difficulties, that it is not possible now, instead of first strongly encouraging the possibility of the left being an viable option for government and power and, in that framework, explaining that it entails a deep struggle, with obstacles and challenges to overcome, and the need to develop mass mobilization and genuine mass organizations. But that it is a possible and essential struggle to be fought in all terrains, calling widely on working people to join it.

Based on this reality, we consider that, taking as a point of reference the advance of the political positioning of Myriam Bregman and of the Left Front in general, we could jointly call assemblies in each city to organize thousands and deepen the support of our figures and our program. We could also organize public events of debate and exchange, thematic forums, open panels on the political and programmatic proposals of the Left Front in the face of the crisis of the country, opening the possibility that this program could vertebrate new supports and approaches. Moreover, if there were an agreement, we could call for a great Open National Congress of the Left Front, which would drive this whole process forward and enthuse thousands and thousands all over the country, opening the doors to a greater leap in the construction of the political alternative that is needed. For which you can enable the possibility of carrying out common experiences that enhance this whole process, either with some of these proposals that we bring to you here, or with other ideas or initiatives that you consider and propose for debate.

For all this, the MST proposes organizing a meeting between our parties to exchange in depth on these or other proposals that you may have. And also that the whole FIT-U meet to discuss these important issues.
