Today, a rally was held in front of the Pakistani Embassy to denounce the social conflict and repression against the people of Kashmir. In addition to the MST, leaders from all the political forces of the Left Front Unity and the Committee for Solidarity with Palestine participated.

A request for a meeting with Ambassador Hassan Khan, signed by twenty members of Congress, was submitted, demanding a response to the serious situation resulting from the arrests, persecution, and curtailment of democratic freedoms. In particular, the request sought information on the whereabouts of the leader of the People’s Rights Movement, an organization that has been advocating for the economic, political, and democratic demands of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

 Speakers at the event included Abdallah Mamdouh (Committee for Palestine) and the leaders of the Left Front: Rafael Santos (PO), Mercedes Trimarchi (IS), Nicolás del Caño (PTS), and Guillermo Pacagnini (MST).

Against the backdrop of a strong presence of the MST Socialist Youth within the Left Unity Front, a petition was submitted calling for:

• The whereabouts, health status, and legal status of Shaukat Nawaz Mir to be publicly and clearly disclosed in a verifiable manner.

• His immediate release, along with that of all leaders and activists of the Movement for People’s Rights who are currently detained.

• Recognition by the Joint Public Action Committee and the lifting of the imposed legal restrictions.

• End to political persecution, baseless criminal charges, and reprisals against activists, union members, students, and workers in Kashmir, as well as the dismissal of cases that have already been filed.

• Restoration of internet and mobile phone services, as well as the supply of food, medicine, fuel, and other essential items. We also call for the withdrawal of paramilitary forces, the cessation of their activities, and the investigation and punishment of those responsible for the reported abuses.

• The establishment of a genuine channel for dialogue with the movement, addressing its demands as a democratic solution to the conflict.
