SELF ORGANIZED CALL
We have taken the first step towards a massive March of Outrage on September 19. For the defeat of Milei, his plan, and his accomplices through a general strike.
More than 200 representatives from unions, social organizations, student groups, socio-environmental groups, human rights organizations, retirees, cultural organizations, the scientific community, feminist and LGBT community groups, and the left gathered on Thursday, August 13, at the Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Buenos Aires). We took the first step toward coordinating our struggles, confronting the austerity measures imposed by Milei and the IMF and the repression against those who are fighting back. We launched a call for a Great March of Outrage on September 19, as part of our effort to defeat Milei, his plan, and his accomplices through a general strike.
The August 6 protest in front of Congress forced the government to back down and ushered in a new situation. That is our starting point. If the Congress intends to vote the Private Property Inviolability Act again, we will take to the streets that very same day.
There are ongoing protests and clashes across the country, but they remain scattered. Bringing them together is the task at hand. We understand that the response to the government’s offensive cannot be left in the hands of the leaderships that negotiate from above while austerity measures continue to hit those at the bottom. That is why we aim to unify from the bottom up what the bureaucracies divide from the top down and build genuine coordination among the different sectors engaged in struggle.
We demand that the CGT break its pact with the government and, together with the CTA, call for a national strike as part of a genuine plan of action leading up to a general strike. We are promoting assemblies in all workplaces to advance this perspective.
In that regard, we decided to call for:
● August 22, 11 a.m.: online national meeting to organize the March of Outrage on a national level.
● September 5: another self-organized gathering at Lezama Park (CABA).
● September 19: March of Outrage across the country.
We also support and call for:
● August 19: protest with retirees at the National Congress.
● August 26, 6:30 p.m.: march for the freedom of those imprisoned for their activism, at the National Congress.
This is just the first step. We call on organizations across the country to take this proposal to every workplace, union, school, college, movement, and neighborhood assembly, and to join this initiative. Let’s participate in the online national meeting on August 22 and the self-organized gathering on September 5 to advance the national coordination of the struggles and build a massive “March of Outrage” on September 19.
