The extension of the war in Palestine is becoming more complex. Provocations and warmongering by Israel and the US threaten escalation in the Middle East. The resistance of the Palestinian people is moving. Global solidarity is very strong. For Palestine and the Middle East, a socialist solution is needed.
After 100 days of war, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement for the delivery of medicines that has been fulfilled: for each package of medicines for the Israeli hostages, a thousand for the Gazans correspond; supplied by Qatar and France and distributed by the Red Cross in hospitals in the Strip. The mediators hope that compliance with the agreement will make a new truce possible. Likewise, everything indicates that the attacks will continue over time since Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that “Israel’s war on Gaza could continue into 2025,” and President Herzog confirmed it by saying: “ Israelis unable to think about peace talks now” . From the epicenter, the shock wave of the conflict advances.
Crossfire in Yemen and the Red Sea
After the US and UK attacks on Yemen, Houthi militants launched missiles at the USS Lagoon destroyer and a US merchant ship. The imperialist planes responded with attacks near the Al Hodeida airfield, supposedly on Houthi bases. The Yemeni population has rejected American aggression with massive mobilizations.
Several countries involved in hostilities
Since the beginning of the war, Iran appears involved, for example, with the double attack attributed to the Islamic State (IS) that on January 3, in Kerma – near the tomb of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani – caused 84 deaths with the murders of several commanders of the Revolutionary Guard. Based on these actions, behind which the hands of Israel and/or the US appear, the ayatollah regime has begun to carry out reprisals with attacks on targets linked to IS in Syria and on “spies of the Zionist regime” in Iraqi Kurdistan. Hostilities then settled in Balochistan, a historic region of Asia, which is currently divided between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. Iranian forces launched missiles and drones on Baloch organizations based in Pakistani territory, something that was seen by the authorities of that country almost as a humiliation. Then, Pakistani forces did the same, but on the other side of the border, in Iran. And on Saturday the 20th, Syria accused Israel of having launched an airstrike against a building in the Mazzeh neighborhood of its capital Damascus, which killed at least 10 people, including members of the Revolutionary Guard, after which Iran warned : “The Islamic Republic of Iran has the right to respond to the organized terrorism of the fake Zionist regime (Israel) at the appropriate time and place.”
Threat of regional war escalation
The shock wave of the conflict in Palestine has more and more protagonists and consequences. It is configuring a complex map of regional dispute, in which the legitimate rights of the people are mixed with the petty interests of the great powers. The murderous aggressiveness of Israel and the United States makes them mainly responsible for fueling the threat of an even more serious regional war escalation.
Let’s continue solidarity with Palestine!
Unitary mobilizations and actions in support of the Palestinian people. Even in the worst conditions imaginable, the resistance is one of the most heroic in recorded history. Millions of people around the world understand this, which is why they carry out large mobilizations that challenge the prohibitions, limitations and repression of openly pro-Zionist governments. Last Saturday, a new and forceful day of struggle took place in the Spanish State. More than ever: Solidarity with Palestine! Stop the bombings in Gaza and Yemen! Boycott Zionist economic interests! Breakup of governments with Israel! Get the US out of the Middle East! No to the Zionist-imperialist war escalation!
What is the way out? A debate that cannot be postponed
The exit debate is not about the future or any other time, but about today. In the midst of the war, Netanyahu acknowledged that he opposes the establishment of a Palestinian State in any post-war scenario, which reaffirms the need to debate what is the solution to the conflict that has been going on for 75 years? The imperialist bloc of the European Union has spoken out in favor of resurrecting the corpse of the Oslo Accords for “Two States”. There are sectors of the PLO-Fatha and the Palestinian Authority that accept as a supposed solution an “Israel with equal rights for the Palestinians.” There are left-wing expressions that propose the departure of “Two socialist States.” We believe that there is no possibility of reaching a just, lasting and prosperous peace for the peoples of the Middle East as long as the existence of the genocidal State of Israel, the colonialist gendarme of imperialism in the region, is accepted. Zionism takes advantage of every concession and every square meter of territory to consolidate colonization and go for more. Hamas and other Islamic organizations confront Israel and do not recognize it, but they propose a capitalist and theocratic solution as configured in the reactionary Iranian regime, something that we consider retrograde and constitutes one of the points for which we have irreconcilable differences.
For a single, secular, democratic, non-racist and socialist Palestine We are convinced that the fundamental solution is to fight for a single, secular, democratic, non-racist and socialist Palestine. Unique “From the River to the Sea”, with the territories before 1948 and the return of the expelled Palestinians. Secular, respecting freedom of worship, without coercion or privileges for any religion. Democratic, non-authoritarian with popular self-determination organizations. Non-racist, which excludes supremacism and discrimination of a majority towards another religious, linguistic community or minority sector. Socialist, for national and social liberation, twinned with the Arab struggles of the region in anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist and socialist tasks, against oppression and exploitation at the same time.
