Urgent: international solidarity with the people of Lebanon

A few days ago, the world was shocked by the explosion of thousands of beepers in Lebanon, which left a trail of dead, maimed and wounded. Then came attacks using all kinds of devices, in schools, hospitals, transport and homes. But since Monday, September 23, the terrorist state of Israel has intensified its aggression against the civilian population: in a single day, its bombings caused the death of 570 people and wounded more than 1,400. As we write these lines, the civilian death toll has already risen to 1,540, many of them children and women. That is why hundreds of thousands of people are moving from the south of the country and the areas of Baalbek, Bekaa and Hermel towards Beirut, the capital. But due to the economic collapse of the country, the capacity of hospitals and relief institutions has been exhausted. In a few days, food and basic necessities may also run out. Faced with this catastrophe, our young Lebanese comrades of the group “For the People” are appealing for international solidarity. They are assisting the displaced and helping the wounded. As it is impossible to send medicines, food, blankets and other aid because such shipments are blocked, we have launched a rapid fundraising campaign so that they can buy the most urgent supplies. As they say, they need help “to continue with the tasks of humanitarian aid, relief from suffering and to contribute as much as possible to the resolve and resistance of the people. After Gaza, the West Bank and almost a year of fighting on our borders, we are facing a brutal Zionist attack like we have not seen since 1982, when Israel invaded our country and occupied Beirut.”

The ISL has therefore launched an urgent campaign for international aid. We ask all human rights, social and revolutionary organizations to stand in solidarity with the Lebanese people and collaborate with this campaign by making a financial contribution. Even if it is minimal, it will help families who are going through a desperate situation and keep their morale high against the aggressor.
