The state of Israel is starving two million people in Gaza to advance its genocidal plan to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people.
Israel has not allowed humanitarian aid to enter Gaza for over 150 days. At least 239 people have been starved to death, including 106 children. Over a thousand people have been shot dead at the phony, US-administered “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” (GHF) aid distribution centers that Israel allows to operate that are actually Palestinian kill zones. Another 100,000 Palestinian women and children suffer from severe malnutrition, while a third of the population of 2.1 million (more than 600,000 people) have gone without food for days. The director of UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) has called the situation “deliberate mass starvation.” Furthermore, Israel is also carrying out “medicide” through its destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system, and the killing and starvation of health workers.
We have been watching a genocide unfold for almost two years now. Millions have mobilized around the world against this monstrosity. The true face of the Zionist, colonial, imperialist, and genocidal project has been revealed like never before. The complete support for this project by US and European imperialism has also been exposed.
But the genocide continues, now entering a new and cruel phase with this intentional famine that threatens to murder two million people.
We cannot allow this to become normalized. We must reinforce international mobilization and action in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
To this end, Socialist Horizon is launching a social media campaign to condemn the Zionist hunger genocide and support the Palestinian people, spreading the demands #Feed Gaza Now and #Free Palestinethroughout the world.
The campaign officially launched on Saturday, August 2nd in Madison, Wisconsin.
A very new group of radical activists, Socialist Horizon of Madison held huge hand painted banners reading FEED GAZA! And MEDICAL WORKERS OPPOSE GENOCIDE! and large placards depicting starving and martyred children in Gaza. Thousands of farmers’ market attendees in Madison saw our protest and hundreds took leaflets with information about this deadly forced famine.
Socialist Horizon of Madison will continue to hold open protests in support of the Palestinians and invites all people in the Madison area to join them.
Another example of the kind of action our campaign needs was demonstrated recently in Sydney, Australia, when as many as 300,000 people marched across Sydney Harbor Bridge to protest the forced famine and genocide in Gaza. Socialists, trade unionists and activists marched shoulder to shoulder in one of the largest demonstrations in modern Australian history.
We need marches like that everywhere and we need them now!
We call on people across the U.S. and around the world to hold demonstrations demanding:
1) The immediate delivery of food and other necessary aid including medical aid from international aid providers to the people of Palestine–and the complete dismantling and expulsion of the murderous Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)
2) An immediate end of the Israeli Occupation of Palestine
3) An immediate end to Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people
We make these demands as first steps towards the creation of a democratic, secular and socialist Palestine necessary for the full emancipation of the Palestinian people.
