We repudiate the attacks that took place during the early hours of Saturday, January 3 2026, when the U.S., ordered by Donald Trump, militarily attacked, with bombings, the territory of Venezuela, innumerous military and governmental points in Caracas and in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.

After the aggressions against Venezuela took place, a message from the Minister of Defense Padrino López reporting the aggressions and asking for confidence in the Venezuelan military forces was announced, in addition he called for people to remain calm. Subsequently, a similar message from the Minister of Interior Diosdado Cabello circulated. No effective defensive anti-aircraft counter-attack actions by the Venezuelan Armed Forces were taken.

After the attacks Trump reported via social media that President Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores had allegedly been captured and taken out of the country. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez denounced the kidnapping of Maduro in a voice message, demanding information on the whereabouts of the presidential couple and a proof of life for both.

Those external military actions along with the U.S. aggressions that preceded them, violated national sovereignty and put the Venezuelan people at risk, regardless of the fact that they are against the highly questioned government of Nicolás Maduro.

Armed meddling is a sign that U.S. imperialism is ready to intervene or invade any Latin American country or any other part of the world in an attempt to impose its will by force, disregarding the entire international legal order. Other powers could proceed in the same way in the dispute for global geopolitical and economic control in their respective areas of influence or in desired territories. What has happened calls for the strongest international condemnation and mobilization of the peoples to stop the imperialist impetus against the sovereignty of nations.

Imperialism cannot be allowed to attack other countries at whim, with total impunity, according to its interests of domination and capitalist exploitation. In the case of the existence of oppressive governments in those countries, it is up to their peoples to take the lead in producing the pertinent changes with their own organization and capacity for struggle. That is why we also reject the Venezuelan right wing that have been sponsoring the invasion of our country by U.S. imperialism, and we are well aware that none of this will lead to favorable solutions for the Venezuelan people if the changes do not come from their own people and are at the service of foreign interests.

Therefore, Marea Socialista, left wing organization opposed to the authoritarian government of Maduro but also anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist and defender of the democratic and social rights of the working class and the Venezuelan people, states the following in view of the present situation:

-We reiterate our condemnation of Trump’s imperialist bombings and aggressions and reject any interference in the determination of the internal political future.
-We demand the immediate withdrawal of the naval and air forces and troops that are harassing and attacking Venezuela.
-We demand that the governments and organizations of Latin America and the world adopt a position of firm condemnation and protest against the pirate and interventionist actions of the U.S. government.
-Regardless of the deep and unbridgeable differences with the Venezuelan bureaucratic-authoritarian regime, we stand with the people in the defense of the sovereignty of the country, as well as in the demand for their democratic rights, rejection of repression and social demands.
-We call for the broadest unity of action in the national and international mobilization against U.S. imperialism and in defense of the people of Venezuela.

In correspondence with all of the above, we also reiterate the content of the resolution approved at the 3rd Congress of the International Socialist League, of which Marea Socialista is a member, in favor of an international campaign against imperialist interventionism and aggressions against the people of Venezuela and other Latin American countries: Resolution on Trump’s increasing interventionism in Venezuela. (December 2025).

Let’s repudiate the imperialist bombing of Venezuela! Stop Trump’s aggressions! No to imperialist intervention in Venezuela, the Caribbean and Latin America!
