It is legitimate, the right of the educators, in the stage of the process of social struggle, in which we find ourselves, to request by the means they consider necessary, the subscription of a strike agreement, as a precondition to suspend the strike, in said sector and the installation of a dialogue table (negotiation), either with the deputies, or any government body, to deal with the issue of the repeal of Law 462. Now, independently of this political reality, which for some may mean a defeat or even a partial victory, due to the conditions in which the regime comes out of the fight (intact or not), as many sectors deduce from the result of the election of the new board of directors of the assembly of deputies; what is certain is that from the process, it can be deduced without much effort, for the revolutionary comrades, social fighters and anti-imperialists: that, the lack of unity of action, in a single front, with a united plan of struggle that includes all of us and the call for a general strike of the central workers’ movements, is an element that cannot be ignored, if we want to win future and near struggles, that the Panamanian people and their social organizations and ideologies, will have to face against the adjustment plan that the government and its repressive regime, intend to apply in matters of higher education, water, etc., without leaving behind the slogans against Law 462, the Rio Indio dam, the mine and anti-imperialist slogans such as the memorandums of understanding with the US. The struggle does not end if all those prosecuted are not de-judicialized, those detained are released and those exiled are reincorporated into political life, there can be no agreement with sanctions, repression or discounts in the educational sector, and without those responsible for the massacres in Bocas del Toro paying for their crimes. We cannot fight against the measure of the bourgeoisie, applied by a repressive regime, without asking for its fall; what happened remains as an example. In spite of everything, it is necessary to regroup and take stock of what happened, in order to reorganize ourselves for the new battles ahead, correcting the errors of the current struggle which to date has not ended. All of us must continue fighting, if we want a better country for future generations where the needs of the great majorities, of the workers, workers, peasants, native peoples, women, dissidents, youth, etc., are put first, instead of the interests of the bourgeoisie, the transnationals and Yankee imperialism or any other.
Until victory always comrades.
