OUT TRUMP FROM THE CARIBBEAN, VENEZUELA AND LATIN AMERICA
By: Carlos Ernesto Guevara Villar – International Socialist League (ISL)
The patriotic deed of January 9, 1964 constitutes a historic expression of anti-imperialist struggle led by the student youth and the Panamanian working people against the colonial enclave imposed by U.S. imperialism. That day left a central lesson: in the face of oppression and foreign domination there is no possible conciliation; only the conscious mobilization of the masses can open the road to sovereignty and self-determination.
The example of the student martyrs of January 9 remains fully valid for the new generations in a context in which Yankee imperialism redoubles its threats against Latin America and the Caribbean. As yesterday in Panama, today the peoples face new forms of political, economic and military subjugation that seek to guarantee the super-exploitation of the working class and the plundering of our resources for the benefit of transnational capital.
The aggression against Venezuela is inscribed in that same imperialist logic, historically sustained in the Monroe Doctrine and updated under the so-called “Trump corollary”. From a revolutionary and internationalist perspective, we reaffirm -that the struggle against imperialist interference is an unrenounceable task of the oppressed peoples, without this implying any political support to the bourgeois or internal bureaucratic leaderships. Therefore we maintain that the solution to the Venezuelan crisis must be from below, with the independent mobilization of the working class and the popular sectors, and to the left, as it should be.
The policies promoted by Trump and U.S. imperialism respond to the structural decay of the imperialist capitalist system, incapable of sustaining itself without resorting to war, sanctions, blockades and permanent destabilization. This reactionary offensive seeks to recompose its hegemony in the region in the face of its economic, political and social crisis on a global scale.
We call for the unity of revolutionaries, the working class, social organizations and the mass movement in Panama and internationally, to confront Yankee imperialism and its local allies, and to advance in the historic task of expelling the gringos from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The experience of January 9, 1964 confirms that only the peoples organized and in struggle can conquer their true independence. National and social liberation will not be the work of the powers or the elites, but of the conscious action of the masses, in the perspective of a socialist Latin America without imperialist domination.
Honor and glory to the martyrs of January 9!
Out with Yankee imperialism from Latin America and the Caribbean!
Solidarity with the Venezuelan people, exit from below and to the left!
International unity of the working class and the peoples!
Panama, January 9, 2026
