Chronicles of Palestine 5: Biden arrives, protests continue

“Uncle Sam” and his cavalry landed in Israel to provide political and military support. After the meeting held by Biden and Netanyahu, the unblocking of the passage from Palestine to Egypt was announced, while maintaining the water cut and the total blockade of supplies from Israel. Biden supported the scandalous Zionist version of the attack on the Al-Ahli hospital having come from the Palestinian side. The main European “advanced democracies” reveal their true repressive character. Protests of solidarity with Palestine continue around the world, especially in the Arab region, putting the traitorous Arab governments under pressure.

Wednesday, October 18

The UN updated its data: casualties from attacks on Gaza and the West Bank: 3,500 dead and 12,500 injured respectively, the majority are women and children. Does the “International Community” not see this crime of the colonizers?

The director of Al-Aqsa TV, Samih Al-Nadi, died as a result of the occupation’s bombing of Gaza. Five Palestinians were killed and 55 injured in an Israeli bombing today near a school housing displaced people in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip.

Jordan canceled the summit with Biden because “the war cannot be stopped now.” German Chancellor Scholz emergency disembarked from the plane in which he was going to travel to Cairo due to an air threat. In France, six airports were evacuated due to “threats of attack.” Governments such as the French, German and English maintain undemocratic measures, bans on demonstrations and persecution of anyone who supports Palestine. Amnesty International Germany criticized the country’s widespread ban on protests. However, mobilizations continue to spread, today thousands protested in Athens, Greece, and there were new demonstrations in Spain and other countries.

Israel attributes the massacre of 800 people it committed at Al-Ahli Hospital to an alleged failed Islamic Jihad missile. Biden defended the absurd Zionist version.

Egypt, Pakistan and Morocco condemned Israeli actions under the common denominator of the “serious violations” of International Humanitarian Law and the Fourth Geneva Convention: “the refusal to deliver medicine and food to the Palestinians in Gaza is a collective punishment and a war crime.” At the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) it was stated that “Israel had told doctors that the bombing of the hospital the previous day was a warning to evacuate the health facility.”

The WHO reported that in the West Bank there have been 77 attacks on health facilities, 61 suffered by ambulances and 15 in which health professionals were detained or obstructed. Doctors warned that “epidemics, dehydration and the fight for food are going to begin to appear.”

European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen recognized “Israel’s right to self-defense in line with international law” and said that Palestine “is also suffering from terror” from Hamas, so “there is no contradiction in showing solidarity with Israel and acting for the humanitarian needs of the Palestinians.” The imperialists have a common line, supporting Israel to kill and occupy, but complying with international laws, something it has never done and ratified with the massacre at the Al-Ahli hospital.

After his arrival in Israel and his meeting with Netanyahu, Biden announced that humanitarian aid would be allowed only through Egypt, while cuts to drinking water and all kinds of supplies from Israel continue. The Americans announced sanctions against a group of 10 Hamas members and the financial network of the Palestinian militant organization in Gaza, Sudan, Turkey, Algeria and Qatar. The Israeli War Council made it clear to Biden that failure to achieve a decisive victory would damage Israel’s position and strategic plans.

China and Russia are trying to capitalize on the hatred expressed in Arab and Muslim capitals against the role of openly pro-Zionist Western imperialism. Russia sent humanitarian aid through Egypt. Putin says that no one wants the conflict to boil over, that a Palestinian State is necessary and that the Al-Ahli hospital massacre must stop the war. He exhibits a concern with the killing of civilians that does not exist when his army kills in Ukraine.

Russia recently used its veto power and the Security Council’s condemnation of Hamas failed. The United States, in turn, vetoed the ceasefire request in the same body.

Hundreds of people demonstrated in Rabat and other cities in Morocco to express their rejection of the Israeli offensive in Gaza and the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel.

The US closed its consulate in Adana, Turkey, amid protests against Israel. The Spanish Embassy in Turkey advised taking extreme precautions against demonstrations in front of diplomatic representations such as those held in Istanbul (Turkey) and Amman (Jordan).

Clashes broke out between protesters and Jordanian security forces after suppressing a demonstration in support of Gaza in the Baqaa refugee camp, in Jordan.

During protests in the West Bank city of Ramallah, one Palestinian died and many were seriously injured by gunshot wounds. In Tehran, mass protests took place against the bombing of Al-Ahli Hospital, with protesters against the US, Israel, France and the UK. The Iranian president stated that “harsh revenge” awaits Israel and called for a boycott.

The Houthis in Yemen: “We declare a state of general popular jihadist mobilization, our readiness to actively participate in the fighting in Palestine and our full readiness to implement the decisions of the revolutionary leadership.”

A group of anti-Zionist Jews demonstrated in solidarity with Gaza in the United States Congress, demanding an immediate ceasefire. In Greece, a massive march was held in solidarity with Palestine.

This day was the heaviest day of fighting on the northern border between occupied Palestine and Lebanon. Violent shelling was reported in the neighborhoods of Tal Al-Hawa and Al-Zaytoun, south of Gaza City. They are preparing for the ground operation, it is not confirmed if it will be tonight, but they have already warned that they will do it soon and they are training for different scenarios that may occur inside.

The International Socialist League promotes mobilization in support of Palestine and calls for redoubling efforts around the world to stop the Zionist genocide supported by all imperialism.
