During the early morning of Saturday, January 3, 2026, the US attacked Venezuela and its people. There were bombings and large explosions in various points of the capital Caracas, especially in the southern area of the city, and also similar aggressions in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira.

The events are in development and different statements that are circulating have to be confirmed. However, the U.S. has assured that it captured -kidnapped- Nicolás Maduro and his wife and extracted them from the country; and the escalation of aggression is a fact that cannot wait to be rejected. Imperialism cannot be allowed to attack the integrity of other countries with total impunity and under any pretext to defend its own interests!

The International Socialist League (ISL):

-Condemns Trump’s imperialist bombings and aggressions against Venezuela and rejects any interference in its internal political destiny.

-Demands the immediate withdrawal of the naval air forces and troops that are attacking Venezuela and are threatening Colombia and the Caribbean.

-Demands the condemnation of the governments of Latin America and the world as well as of the forces that consider themselves democratic against the pirate and interventionist actions of the U.S. government.

-Beyond the irreconcilable differences we have with the Venezuelan regime, which we oppose from the left, we repudiate all the imperialist actions carried out in the early hours of January 3 and demand the immediate release of Maduro and his wife.

-Stands with the Venezuelan people and the defense of the sovereignty of their country against the interference of Trump and his local accomplices; and for the working class to recover its democratic, social and political rights and to decide the destiny of their country themselves.

-Repudiates the complicit role of the collaborationist right wing in Venezuela and the rest of Latin America.

-Calls for the broadest unity of action and worldwide mobilization against U.S. imperialism and in defense of the Venezuelan people.
