We reproduce the international call launched by numerous popular organizations in Haiti against all imperialist intervention, issued at the capital of Port-au-Prince on September 23, which was sent to us by comrade Odson Charnel, member of ROZO Haiti (Network of Organizations of the Haiti West Zone that the ISL supports and promotes throughout the world.
The shed roof deceives the sun, but not the rain
In 1994, the US and the Haitian military used the September 30 coup, the violence perpetrated by the FRAPH armed civilians [1] and the trade embargo, to justify their military intervention in Haiti. Today, it is clear that the objective of this intervention was strengthening the neoliberal project and privatizations. The military intervention of 1994 and the US neoliberal project meant a tremendous crisis, hunger and misery for the masses.
In 2023, 30 years after the intervention, the power of PHTK [2] and the Core Group [3], led by the Americans, used gangs and the embargo on the Fransik mango [4] to justify and deepen the military intervention. Now they want to save the rotten system they created with a new military intervention, but the people have risen up. It is necessary to uproot the occupation system so that the Haitian people can advance in their aspirations for well-being, freedom and authentic democracy.
The Haitian masses have discovered that the problem lies precisely in the neocolonial system of occupation imposed by the United States. It is increasingly clear that the solutions to their elementary problems are not at all solved with foreign military occupation. Quite the opposite: they worsen with virulence.
The military intervention is a ruse by the puppet government of Ariel Henry, to maintain at all costs the interference of its colonialist masters in Haitian politics. The government pretends to be judge and party, which must be absolutely rejected.
The organizations and activists of Haiti who sign this note, declare:
1. Under foreign military occupation, there is no solution to address the crisis of hunger, social justice, security and democracy in Haiti.
2. The austerity imposed by the Core Group and the US government brings more problems and suffering to the vast majority of the Haitian people.
3. The masses demand new leaders without any submission to foreign powers to build a different country with authentic democracy, justice, security and well-being.
4. The Haitian people demand respect for their demands and respect for the sovereign and independent path that they determine to face the brutal crisis they are suffering and to live in peace.
5. We commit to continue fighting on the front of the resistance, alongside the Haitian masses, champion of the struggle for freedom and real independence.
6. We call on our brothers and sisters, friends, militants, revolutionaries for freedom and social justice in the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and the entire world, for international solidarity. We call for uniting with the Haitian people in their struggles for freedom, autonomy and for the right to be owners of their destinies and wealth, today appropriated by the mafias that support the foreign occupation.
