The International Commission approaches Nicaragua

Since dawn, the International Commission for the Life and Freedom of Political Prisoners in Nicaragua has been traveling, accompanied by a large and representative contingent of buses, private cars, vans, and 30 accredited journalists to Nicaragua.

On the way, 20 km from the border post of Peñas Blancas, Nicaraguan territory, the entourage, which includes the Commission and representatives of the main organizations and groups of Nicaraguans in exile, will carry out a march and rally in the town of La Cruz.

The event will be held with the Nicaraguan delegations in exile that are part of the Caravan, and also with peasant leaders, pioneers in the struggle against the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship and in defense of native territories. The internationalist initiative that we promoted with the ISL has become a political and social event with significant repercussions in Central America.

The main newspapers and media in Costa Rica and Nicaragua reflected the arrival of the Commission, the press conference held with its members and the Caravan has a bus with journalists from international agencies, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. On the other hand, the coordinator of the Commission, Mariano Rosa, informs us that both the Costa Rican government, due to the obvious media impact, as well as the Argentine embassies in Costa Rica and Managua are aware of the determination of this Commission to try to coordinate its entry into that country by the Ortega-Murillo government. With the objective of visiting and verifying in situ the confinement conditions of the more than 190 political prisoners in Nicaragua.

They report that they will await authorization from the Nicaraguan government at the Peñas Blancas border post.
