Lebanon: A call to action in front of French embassies demanding the freedom of George Abdullah

General Union of Students – Lebanese section of the ISL

George has been in French prisons for 39 years due to the pressure exerted by the United States and Zionism. They do not forgive him for his militant support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

George Ibrahim Abdullah is a resistance fighter against occupation, colonialism, reactionary regimes and for the right of people to self-determination.

He has been imprisoned for decades for exercising the right to stand in solidarity with peoples against colonialism and fighting against the Zionist enemy everywhere and from everywhere.

For 39 years, the Lebanese State has been complicit, neglecting its role and bowing its head to France, while all the voices and movements demanding the freedom of Georges Abdallah came exclusively from the streets.

Although George has been eligible for parole since 1999, the French state, under American pressure, still refuses to release him. George submitted several requests for his release, but all were rejected in light of the continued failure of the Lebanese state.

During his latest attempt, the International Socialist League sought to create an international media campaign accompanied by human rights organizations on the one hand and demonstrations on the other in various places around the world.

Today we announce from Beirut and on behalf of the International Socialist League, the launch of a new campaign for his freedom in all countries where the International is present, and we call for the start of actions at all levels, legal, media and in the streets, starting in Lebanon, the country where George Abdullah grew up.

We also call to organize actions in front of French embassies. This October 21 the Court will meet again to discuss whether or not to grant his freedom and like every year a large demonstration will be held in the French city of Toulouse where George is imprisoned to demand his freedom.

Activists imprisoned for defending the Palestinian people and Georges will not be released without international solidarity and the popular struggle against the interests defended by France, imperialism and the terrorist and genocidal State of Israel.

Mobilization in Toulouse this October 21, in the context of the campaign.
