The State of Israel and the United States are primarily responsible for the growing spiral of war in the Middle East. They must be defeated because they are leading the region towards the abyss.

The article “Syria: new authorities, Israeli attacks and more regional tensions”, published on April 28, anticipated what days later has turned into an escalation of sectarian clashes, cross aggressions, territorial disputes and geopolitical uncertainty.

Israeli attacks on Damascus

On May 2, Israel carried out an airstrike near the People’s Palace in Damascus, the headquarters of the new Syrian government of the Organization for the Liberation of the Levant (HTSL). According to Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, it was a “clear message” to the Syrian regime for its military deployment south of the capital and its troubled relationship with the Druze community.

Syria denounced the aggression as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, accusing Israel of fomenting chaos in the region. Turkey also expressed
its concern over the escalation, and Azerbaijan proposed to act as a mediator to avoid a direct clash on Syrian soil.

Military infrastructure in Syria destroyed.

The Druze in Syria and Israel

The Druze community in Syria is divided. Some advocate remaining in a unified Syria, while others consider possible autonomy or even annexation to Israel, which, in keeping with its logic of expanding its territorial influence, has offered to “protect the Syrian Druze,” primarily in the mountainous area of Sueida and the Damascus suburb of Jarama. The Druze residing in Israel have been assimilated into the state and, unlike other Arab communities, are part of the Zionist army. 1

Missile launched by Yemen’s Houthis

The growing internationalization of the conflict had a new chapter on May 4, when Yemen’ s Houthis launched a missile that struck near
Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. The attack injured six people and again exposed the failings of the missile shield. The Houthi rebels
Houthi rebels claimed they seek to impose an air blockade on Israel in retaliation for its operations in Gaza, and with this move they have re-emerged as an active player in the regional confrontation.

Gaza occupation plan

The Netanyahu government approved a plan to advance the occupation of Palestine from ad hoc incursions to a constant presence.
Some of the Zionists in the cabinet have criticized it, concerned only with the 59 hostages held by Hamas. As a sign of the brutal prevailing views, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a settler with decision-making power in the occupied West Bank, told a conference organized by the weekly Besheva, that Israelis “will stop fearing the word occupation” and that “there will be no withdrawal from the territories we conquer, not even in exchange for hostages”, “Once we occupy and remain [in Gaza], we can talk about sovereignty“, the usual euphemism they use when referring to the installation of settler settlements.

In addition, the genocidaires will implement a new system to hinder the distribution of humanitarian aid with heavy military control through
contractors and limited to 60 trucks per day.

Zionism is genocide, ethnic cleansing and colonialism.

The Israeli attack against Gaza, initiated after the Hamas operation and hostage-taking, was not only a military response against the Islamist organization: with its execution, the historical and systematic will to depopulate Palestine of Arabs, destroy homes, raze communities and displace or exterminate thousands of people has been deployed, with the unconditional endorsement of U.S. imperialism for which it plays the role of
gendarme of the Arab peoples.

This has nothing to do with “defending themselves” because they are “victims”, the blatant lie behind which is hidden the resumption of genocide and ethnic cleansing to advance in the conquest of the Arab world. Zionist aggressiveness is not limited to Palestine. With varying degrees of intensity
intensity, Israel has attacked or threatened Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran and Turkey. Iran and Turkey, regional powers with authoritarian and Islamist regimes, are also under constant pressure from the imperialist and Zionist axis. The colonialist and expansionist logic of Zionism is today on full display, the region is suffering the consequences.

For a socialist solution

The gravity of the events makes it indispensable to multiply the impetus to the world mobilization in solidarity with Palestine, regardless of the policy of the the politics of the Islamist organization Hamas, from which we are separated by great differences.

The State of Israel is an institutionality with fascist characteristics to which is added the ethnic cleansing against the Arabs. It is a planned racial
aggression that evokes the darkest pages of humanity written by the Nazi regime against the Jewish people.

The genocidal state has the support of U.S. imperialism, which, with Donald Trump at the helm, wants to make Gaza an international tourist destination. The only way out for a real peace is through the defeat of the State of Israel and imperialist interference, and the creation of a unique, secular, non-racist, democratic and socialist Palestine. Peace, democratic and social rights for the workers and peoples will only open the way with the socialist revolution in the Middle East.

  1. Since 1957, the State of Israel has forged a Druze identity separate from the Arab one in all social spheres. The Jewish Nation-State Law of 2018 institutionalized the Druze’s status as second-class citizens, limiting their access to services, urban planning rights, and political representation.
