The Zionist state’s aggression against Iran is part of Netanyahu’s government warmongering policy. The colonial state that exterminates the Palestinian people claims its omnipotence in the entire region of the Middle East. After occupying Gaza, colonizing the West Bank, attacking Lebanon, expanding the occupation of the Syrian Golan, bombing Yemen, now Israel is once again directing its missiles against Iran.

We do not recognize any rights to the Zionist state or its ultra-reactionary government. The attempt of forcing Iran to give up nuclear energy, and nuclear armament reflects the boundless arrogance of Israel and the imperialist powers that support it. By what right does a nuclear-armed colonial state, and the imperialist nuclear powers that arm it, intend to impose on the Iranian state the renunciation of its defensive and military sovereignty? What right do the powers responsible for all past and present crimes have to set themselves up as the world’s gendarmes? What “international law” can be invoked by this Zionist state that has made a mockery of all rights, starting with Palestine?

We have nothing to do with the reactionary theocratic regime in Tehran. A bloodthirsty regime that hangs trade unionists, imprisons and tortures opponents, oppresses women, tramples on the Kurdish minority, represses social and democratic protests with heinous methods. We have unequivocally sided, with all our might, with the mass movement “Woman, Life, Freedom”. We have tirelessly denounced the “campist” logic of those in the West, within the political and trade union left, who have embellished the Iranian regime, based on their support for the rival imperialisms of Russia and China, presented as progressive or even “socialist” (China).

But it is the Iranian working class, the oppressed and exploited masses of Iran, who have the right to fight and overthrow the Iranian regime, with the methods of revolutionary struggle, and for their own alternative. Certainly not the colonial and genocidal state of Israel, not the imperialist powers that arm and support it, for their own despotic control of the Middle East and the Arab nation. That is why, in the war unleashed by Israel against Iran, we take the side of Iran against Israel. Iran has every right to defend itself against Israel and to retaliate against its aggression. Just like the Houthis.

Israel wouldn’t be able to do what its doing, neither in Palestine nor in the Middle East, without the support of imperialism. The question is not whether Israel’s night attack on Iran was carried out jointly or not, regarding timing and method, with US imperialism (although announced) and European imperialisms. It is possible and even probable that Netanyahu chooses his movements in partial autonomy and for the survival at all costs of his own government, even to avoid jail. One basic truth remains: without the long-term military support of the imperialist “democracies,” starting with (but not limited to) U.S. imperialism, Israel would not be able to do what it does. Neither the endless carnage in Gaza, nor the warmongering policy it carries out in the region would be possible. Imperialist complicity is the basic requirement on which Israel depends.

Today it is more necessary than ever to build the broadest mobilization against the colonial State of Israel and its warmongering policy, against its imperialist complicity, in defense of Palestine and, now, of Iran. Only the liberation of Palestine, of the Arab nation, of the entire Middle East, from the presence of Zionism and imperialism, can bring just peace to the region. It is inseparable from the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people and of all oppressed people.

For a free, from river to sea, secular, socialist, Palestine within a socialist federation of the Middle East! These are the demands of our Lebanese organization, at the forefront of resistance to Zionism.

The PCL, the Italian section of the International Socialist League (ISL), will take these positions to the national demonstration on June 21 in Rome.

ALL TO ROME ON JUNE 21
