On May 8, the appeal hearing will take place against the judgement that condemns our comrade Alejandro Bodart for having shown solidarity with the Palestinian cause and denounced the ongoing genocide perpetrated by the State of Israel.

The barbarity deployed in the Palestinian territories has its counterpart at the political and ideological level, driven by the Zionist lobby worldwide, which seeks to shield this murderous state and government from criticism as genocide.

With Trump’s inauguration, a leap has been made in the persecution and criminalization of those who have come out to raise their voices for an end to Zionist apartheid, and with Milei in the national government, cases against political leaders and activists for the Palestinian people are advancing and intensifying.

The third time won’t be the charm

DAIA, an organization that defends Zionism and the ethnic cleansing it practices, was not satisfied with having lost two court cases that had acquitted Alejandro Bodart. It appealed against the second acquittal, which was handed down in August 2024, a judgment which, like the first, clearly established that the three tweets used in the complaint did not constitute a crime, but were an opinion far removed from the charge of anti-Semitic discrimination. It also demonstrated that the IHRA’s definition of anti-Semitism, which conflates anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism, is not only barbaric, but not legally binding.

On the penultimate day of the year, the Third Chamber of the Court of Cassation overturned the acquittal. Naturally, we have lodged an appeal with the lawyers Maria del Carmen Verdú and Ismael Jalil, and on May 8 we will have a new hearing, before Chamber I of the Chamber of Cassation and Criminal Appeal of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

They want the third time to be the charm, but know that, like the heroic Palestinian people, we will not be intimidated and will continue to fight and denounce the genocide perpetrated by the State of Israel, once, twice, three times and as many times as necessary.

All for Bodart’s acquittal on May 8

While solidarity has been expressed by thousands of signatures and endorsements from national and international organizations and personalities, such as the statements in the second trial against Alejandro by important figures like Adolfo Perez Esquivel, we must once again make the pressure of the street felt.

We must continue to raise our voices to denounce the genocide against the Palestinian people and the attempt to silence those of us who stand in solidarity with their struggle.

No matter how hard they try, as they are currently doing against Vanina Biasi, they will not succeed in silencing solidarity with Palestine.

We must once again make it clear that denouncing genocide IS NOT A CRIME, that anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism, and that raising our voices in solidarity with the Palestinian people is our right. On May 8, we call on everyone to mobilize at 10 a.m. (Libertad 1042, CABA) to defend the right to denounce Zionist apartheid and for freedom of expression.
